Due to an abundance of christmas trees this year, the reservoir crew on J. Percy Priest Lake has installed four new deepwater fish attractors in addition to the shallow tree sites, stake beds, and fabricated structures normally maintained in this popular reservoir. Each site contains 30 christmas trees anchored to the bottom with an attached float to hold the trees upright. The trees are situated in about 20 feet of water at full pool and should provide good cover in all but the hottest months.
Since these structures are located away from shore, they will not be marked with a fish attractor buoy which could pose a navigation hazzard. Instead, anglers can locate the tree beds using their GPS units and depth finders. The new site are at the following locations:

1) Cove on the northeast side of the lake between Poole Knobs and Fate Sanders Marina.
36.05251° N
086.49754° W
2) Upstream of Bryant Grove on Northeast side:
36.07175° N
086.50670° W
3) Island between Long Hunter State Park and Bryant Grove:
36.07602° N
086.53461° W
4) Suggs Creek Area:
36.11634° N
086.56350° W

In addition to these four christmas tree sites, we have also placed several prefabricated stake beds in 14 to 16 feet of water (at full pool) around Percy Priest. Anglers can locate these structure by recognizing the telescopic markers made of two bullet shaped floats secured over a PVC pipe floating above the water surface. These markers are identified with TWRA decals.

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Reports 1-31-10

http://PercyPriestLakeFishingReports.blogspot.com

One word describes this past weeks reports, still Tuff. Stripe fishing did some what improve, but for the most part, fishing has been a little below average. This was due to the lake being frozen, then finally it thawed due to a ton of rain. Water temps did warm up, but the rain brought the lake level up 6 feet. Top all this off with 6 inches+ of snow and what do you get, still boat ramps that you can not even get into to go fishing.

It can only get better, and will if we can keep the water temps at least where there at. Good luck and good fishing!

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Report 1-15-10

Two words describe this past weeks reports, Tuff & Frozen. The single digit temps we have had the last couple of weeks has frozen over a lot of the lake. You can go up in the river and its frozen all the way across. I have been fishing for over thirty years and have not seen it this bad in a couple of decades. The weather is warming up some this week and everything should improve in a week or so.

My advice, stay home. If you go, the ice may scuff up your boat or you could get a chunk of ice caught between your boat and motor and cause you to get thrown out. Play it safe and stay home till next week.

Percy Priest Fishing Report 1-03-10

Weekly Fishing Reports for Percy Priest Lake
PercyPriestLakeFishingReports.blogspot.com

Fishing on Percy priest this past week has been above average for the most part. With all the rain, TWRA has still been pulling the water from time to time, but for the most part it looks like is down and stabilizing.

Bass Fishing has been above average this past week. Best baits recently have been the jig & pig, crankbaits or spinnerbaits. The cold days have seemed to be the best days lately. Best depth have been from the shore line out to 12 foot of water.

Crappie Fishing has been normal recently with some average slabs been caught. Still kind of spotty at best, but hit it right and you can load the boat. Best baits being used are minnows & jigs fishing around 5-15 foot of water.

Catfishing Fishing has been steady lately, but will be decling soon on Percy Priest. A variety of baits are working with best depth range being from the shallows on out to 20 foot deep.

Rockfish / Hybrid Fishing has been great lately on a variety of lures, but the jig seems to be at the top of the list. Depth ranges seemed to change daily, just find the schools.

Yellow Bellies have produced great lately. You will find these close to where the crappie are, but shallower. Using the same methods.
