Fishing this past week has been tougher than usually due to some heavy rains and then several tornados on Friday. On a rating from 0-10, I would give this week a 4. Give it a couple days to settle and things should be back to normal.

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Report 4-5-09

Weekly Fishing Reports for Percy Priest Lake

Fishing on Percy priest this past week has been above average for all species. Great numbers and size on all species. Local bass tournaments have been winning with a combined catch of 20-25 pounds. I apologize for not being on time with the reports. Its a tough time of year for us, due to fishing season and turkey season in full swing.

Bass Fishing has been great for some anglers that have been spending their time on the water. Best baits recently have been the hoppys spinnerbait or the hp Speedster spinnerbait, jig-n-pig when conditions have been tough, and the hp stick bait. Best depth have been anywhere from the shallows on out to 12 foot of water.

Crappie Fishing has been great recently with some big slabs been caught. Expect most of these fishing to spawn with in the next couple of weeks. Best baits being used are minnows & tube baits fishing around 4-12 foot of water.

Rockfish / Hybrid fishing has been above normal with a lot of numbers being caught early in the morning. On cloudy days the bite will last a couple hours longer. Best baits have been the hp jerk shad and spinnerbaits fished in 4-10 foot of water.

Yellow Bellies have produced well lately but speradic. Best baits are the spoon and live minnows. Expect these fish to be moving up over the next several days.

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Report 2-22-09

Weekly Fishing Report for Percy Priest Lake

Fishing this past week has been above normal once again. Fish shallow rock banks on those sunny warm days, especially in the afternoon.

Bass Fishing has been good. The best depth to catch these fish are changing day by day due to some warmer weather. Most anglers are catching fish from the shallows on out to 20 foot of water. Best lures have been the jig & pig combination and some crankbait action on those warmer days. When the fish have backed off the hp Diamond Blade has produced some good fish.

Crappie Fishing has been great on some days and a little slower on others. Best baits have been the hair jigs or minnows fished from 4 foot -16 foot of water.

Rockfish, Hybrid Fishing has been great also, but speradic. All types of baits have been working including spoons, hp Diamond Blade, & live bait. Depth has been ranging any where from 5-20 foot of water depending on the weather on that given day.

Yellow Bellies are almost always biting good if you can find them. Right now most are deep and can be caught on spoons or live bait.

Water Temp. - 45 Degrees

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Report 2-15-09

Weekly Fishing Report for Percy Priest Lake

Fishing this past week has been above average due to some warmer weather that had moved in. This caused the fish to move a little shallower than normal. Warm days with brite sun will get the fish to move up and stage on rock banks this time of year.

Bass Fishing has been good with the most success coming off jig & pig combination with crankbaits working well on those warm days. Most successful depth has been from the shallows on out to 15 foot of water.

Crappie Fishing has been great. Best depths have been from 4-10 foot of water with minnows and jigs. On cloudy days they tend to back off a little deeper.

Stripers fishing has been sporadic but good when found. Most success coming from 10-20 foot of water on spoons or live bait.

Trout fishing has been great due to the stocking at Nice Mill last week. Go on the week days so you do not have to fight the crowd.

Water Temp - 42 degrees
Water Level - 482.73 ft.

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Report 2-1-09

Weekly Fishing Report for J. Percy Priest Lake

Fishing on Percy Priest Lake this past week has been below average for this time of year. Weather has been some what of a factor due to rain and fronts that have come through. There has been some current trying to keep the water level down to normal winter pool cause some trash and lite muddy water in some areas.

The lower end of the lake seemed to be the best areas of lake fishing jigs or spoons near points and drops.
